  1. My name is Franklin (Frank or Jomon) and I have a lot of respect for Stevely Koshy’s skillset and overall game. I find this Pente brother to be a great athlete in the most recent era of PCNAK basketball. With that being said, he was not the first player to dunk on multiple occasions in our tournament. I played in the first tournament at the 1990 Florida conference and have participated in the majority of the tournaments in some capacity as a player, coach, coordinator, or volunteer so I’ve witnessed my fair share of great moments at the tournaments. The first player to accomplish this was Sunu Thomas on Team Florida in 1994 at the Chicago conference. He was also the first player to be currently playing NCAA Div I basketball and tennis for the Northern Illinois Univ Huskies. He played both at sg and sf. He is considered the best player to ever play for the Chicago Untouchables IPB team and ranked by the Chicago National IPB Tourney committee as the 2nd best player to ever compete in the annual Chicago National IPB tournament which was considered to be the second most competitive IPB tournament, with the Vancouver, British Columbia tournament being #1.
The second player to dunk on multiple occasions in a PCNAK tourney was James Abraham for Team Michigan in the 1996 Tennessee conference tourney. James aka Bobby played for the Pathanamthitta district traveling team while attending Mar Ivanios College in Kerala. He became the first center in PCNAK history to dunk on multiple occasions during that tourney. I may be mistaken but I believe Anil, who played center for Houston, dunked on multiple occasions in the 1997 Michigan conference tourney at MSU as well.
I love watching the young kids play with such passion for the game. I’m not an OG hatin’ on younger players at all, definitely not my style. I wish we had footage of some very talented players and teams over the last 2.5 decades of PCNAK ball. I just wanted to clarify this so the site is more credible. I created this list of champions from 1990-2007 and listed it on the 25th PCNAK tourney site. Thank you for keeping it updated!

  2. If you keep the respect on a team level instead of at a state level, then another suggestion is to list Team Michigan to your championship percentages in regard to the road of tying OKC Flight’s # of championships. Team Michigan won 4 championships by 1996. OKC Flight tied Michigan’s mark in 2005. Michigan is second all time and is still at 57% on the way to tying OKC Flight’s record but isn’t mentioned. A matchup of Team Michigan and OKC Flight in the prime of both teams, now that would have been something! If you really want to list state accomplishments which would be more accurate, in my opinion, since players move on…Oklahoma would be@#1 with 8, New York@#2 with 5, Michigan@#3 with 4, Tennessee and Texas would be tied@#4 with 3 each, Florida@#6 with 2, and Illinois@#7 with 1.

  3. Any predictions for this year? (Am I talking to myself the whole time? haha)

I definitely think this will be a good tourney to watch. In the 90’s there were always 4 legitimate contenders at every tournament. In the first decade of the new millennium, there were 3. There have been 6 during this decade. At this year’s tournament from whatever I know about the teams traveling to play in the Dallas tourney, 6 teams are real contenders with 3 dangerous dark horses if they get it going in this tourney in my opinion. So with 9 out of the 13 teams in contention before the tourney, it looks to me as if this will be the most competitive tourney out of the 27 tournaments in PCNAK history. That’s a pretty good tourney for any older players that want to watch these youngins’ ball out!
